Our group had four golf carts. The first was driven by Karen, whose husband loves her enough to let her build a giant garden!, our adventuring, knowledgeable tour guide. The next had Alan, her husband as the driver. Our cart had Mike, the CEO who was SO much fun and the last was Tracy, who I didn't really get to talk to. They took us on through the whole park. Here is the view from the start. I told them to call me when they put a giant slip-and-slide on that hill.

Even though we were there for the roses, mom and I were in love with the different colors of hollyhocks.

From inside the gardens it's hard to imagine you're as close to the freeway as you really are. They built it in a natural bowl so all you can see are gardens and mountains.

Our cart liked to play a game of counting how many places people could take engagement pictures (for $100, but so worth it!).

Mike explained that the waterlilies at the Monet garden fold up at night and bloom during the day -- we came early in the morning, so they weren't all open yet.

The door in the Secret Garden. Yes, designed after the book. I'm told a lot of proposals happen here.

We hit the fountains in the Italian gardens about the time it started getting hot. If I weren't wearing nylons, I may have jumped in!

We can't spend two hours driving through the gardens without pictures of flowers, right? (o:

The passarelle gardens had a really cool flower-filled merry-go-round that I didn't get a good picture of.

Driving up by the waterfalls.

One of the many scripture verses along the path.
It was a gorgeous tour and I'm excited to go again in the fall to see how it's all changed.
After the trip, we all went to lunch at Alta Club where I got creme brulee and halibut, two of my favorite things. I can't imagine a more perfect way to spend the day.
